Potential -1

Potential1a (2)

Each of us is bursting with potential. Once we figure out the way to rise above the “barriers”, “preconceived notions” and “judgments” passed upon us, we reach a stage of deeper intimacy with ourselves and with our creator- which in turns leads to a lifelong journey of nurture and exploration. My endeavour here is to redefine the “Kupesi” while still retaining it’s inherent core.
Kupesis are traditional Tongan motifs and resonate with the culture of Tonga. Fata-‘O-Tu’i Tonga is one of the oldest Kupesi of my homeland – The Kingdom of Tonga, and is also known as the “Royal” one. The origin of Fata-‘O-Tu’i Tonga is from the art of lalava (ornamental lashing used for houses), and it was used on the rafters of the King’s house.
